Strategic Prevention Framework - State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG) |
|
What is the Strategic Prevention Framework-State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG)? The SPF SIG is a project funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The SPF plan is designed to reduce underage drinking and marijuana use through an environmental approach. Rutland Area Prevention Coalition is one of 23 community organizations that have received SPF SIG funding. In Vermont, the first priority is to reduce underage drinking statewide. Beyond that, each coalition/community organization had the responsibility to assess its own community to determine the second priority: high risk drinking or marijuana use in individuals ages 25 and under. After careful community assessment, Rutland Area Prevention Coalition and its partners determined that the most appropriate choice for Rutland County would be to address marijuana use. Who are the community partners? Rutland Area Prevention Coalition has partners in several sectors within the community, such as: law enforcement, schools, colleges, businesses, youth organizations, the media, and other various community agencies throughout Rutland County. What does this mean to the community? Rutland Area Prevention Coalition and its partners will work together to provide education and information to the community about the dangers and realities of underage drinking and marijuana use. If you have any questions about the SPF SIG project, please feel free to contact Plan Coordinator, Tina Coltey at 802-775-4199 or by email.
