The Education & Wellness Center is a resource center that functions as an integral part of the Rutland Area Prevention Coalition. Information and materials on healthy living and substance abuse prevention are provided to schools, service providers and the community at large. The resources are used with youth and young adults to promote healthy living. The Education & Wellness Center is staffed part-time and is open two days a week. Because it is housed in the Rutland Mental Health complex , however, collaboration with that organization has increased access through support of front desk personnel. The Education & Wellness Coordinator also supports and attends community events designed to educate youth and adults about wellness and substance abuse prevention. The number of requests for information and resources on timely wellness and substance abuse prevention topics continues to grow as the center reaches out to the Rutland County area. Requests range from 30 to 50 items monthly with the coordinator responding to an average of 20-25 individuals monthly. |

Procedure for Checking Out Resources If you are a first time borrower please fill out a name, address, and phone number card in the front of the rolodex, which is located on top of the case outside the office door. Otherwise, each time you borrow something:
1. Please fill out the green or white card located in the back of the resource with your name and phone number. Date due is three weeks for books, two weeks for videos, dvds, or magazines from the date you borrowed the material. Place the green/white card in the plastic container on the bookshelf near my office.
2. For a reminder you may take a blue card and write the date due as a reminder. Place in the pocket in the back of the resource.
3. You may call and leave a message and arrangements can be made for requested resources. Returns may also be made to the front desk at Rutland Mental Health or The RAP Coalition at 78 South Main Street. Regular business hours are 8:30 am to 4:00p.m
4. Pamphlets may be taken free of charge.
5. Please feel free to browse and make suggestions as to materials and resources that may be helpful.
